The first thing you need to know is that Bluefish is not meant for regular users. This is an application that is meant to be used by programmers and developers. You see, Bluefish is a powerful editor that provides support for lots of programming languages. Programmers and developers can use Bluefish to write code, scripts, and websites.

Bluefish is a multi-platform application. It works on multiple platforms: Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, Solaris.

The setup wizard that helps you install Bluefish on a Windows PC allows you to choose the components that will be installed: Bluefish editor, dependencies (GTK+, Python), plugins (character map, entities, HTML bar, info browser, snippets, zencoding), desktop shortcut, spell check languages (English and many other languages).
The setup wizard will also invite you to select the file types you would like to be associated with Bluefish: ADA, ASP, SH, D, HTML, TXT, PY, RB, and more.

Lots of useful functionality is offered by Bluefish: support for multiple programming languages; spell checker that is programming language aware; support for lots of file formats; open multiple documents at the same time; powerful search and replace; integrate external programs and external filters; unlimited undo/redo; multiple encodings support; bookmarks; and more.

Bluefish is released under a GNU General Public License (GPL). This means the editor is free software. Do consider making a donation if you find the Bluefish editor useful.

I don’t see what’s not to like about Bluefish. It is free, it is easy to use, it is a very useful and feature-rich editor that programmers and developers are sure to love.

Pros

Bluefish works on multiple platforms: Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, Solaris. The setup wizard that helps you install Bluefish on a Windows PC allows you to choose the components that will be installed. Support for multiple programming languages, support for multiple file formats, spell checker that is programming language aware, and other useful features are offered for the great price of free (consider making a donation).

Cons

None that I could think of.
